Having left Sovicille, following the road leading towards the Montagnola senese, in the middle of the woods full of olives,cypresses,oaks, holmtrees and vineyards, is the old farmhouse "Il Caggio" . It is situated between Ancaiano, a little village,famous for being the birthplace of Domenico Beccafiumi and Baldassarre Peruzzi, ( both famous Sieniese artists ) and the farm of Trecciano. Il Caggio is surrounded by an ancient fortresses, romanic churches and villas of the16th century, which you can get to walking along the many paths which still have signs of the roman and etruscan life. The landscape has a surprising policromia : there is no place like this where you can see the brillant and burned red coulor known all over the world as" Terra di Siena". The first news of the Caggio dates back to the napolian age, when the already existing tower was drawn on maps as a landmark, but the structure of the farmhouse is definately earlier. The house has been renovated mantaining the original architecture: Old materials have been used where possible and some of the old details, have come back to life, like the crenels of the tower. The outside spaces of the typical tuscan life-style have been enlarged and renovated : especially the beautiful loggia, suitable for having dinner on , which the guests can prepare in the near kitchen with a traditional wood oven. The large swimming pool is situated in a panoramic position. The house has been diveded in various apartments and suites, which are ideal for families or little groups because they can be connected to each other.
